Who we are:

The Reach School is a special purpose school servicing children with developmental delays (specifically children with autism spectrum disorders) We have three classrooms, one being  an integrated preschool classroom with typically developing children and children with developmental delays. Our school is located in South Portland, Maine.
Teaching Methodology:

Children at The Reach School experience many learning opportunities throughout the day, in one to one teaching sessions as well as structured small and large group  activities

Our program philosophy is based on the  principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA).We strive to provide each child with a positive and predictable environment that will  support optimal individual development. Progress is measured skill by skill and data are frequently monitored in order  to promote optimal  progress.

Learning and generalization are facilitated using scientifically validated methods derived from applied behavior analysis, such as discrete trial instruction, incidental teaching, task analysis, and errorless learning, video modeling, and activity schedules.

     Mission:

"The goal of the REACH School is to foster each child's maximum potential for development through individualized empirically sound instruction delivered by highly trained staff in
a nurturing environment."
Child Development Services:

Child Development Services (CDS) is an Intermediate Educational Unit responsible for ensuring identification for children with developmental delays and disabilities, who are aged birth through five and reside in Cumberland County. The agency functions under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and is funded through the Department of Education with Federal and State dollars.
